Just to let you all know that £1 wednesdays are back - so all counter cupcakes will be £1 each during October and November 2011.

MacMillan Coffee morning!
This morning we donated 24 of our counter cupcakes to Thornton YMCA for their fundraising "Coffee morning" for the MacMillan appeal.

Halloween 2011
Before the Christmas build-up starts to make our head spin, we've got one more festivity to celebrate in style... the spooky world of Hallowe'en!Check out the photos above or visit the display in our shop to see examples of the cupcake designs on offer this year. We're bringing you scary spiders, ghoulish ghosts, wicked witches - all in a selection of frightening Hallowe'en colours!
As usual, our counter cakes will be £1.50 each, however we're celebrating with an extra offer this particular weekend...
a box of 12 Hallowe'en cupcakes from the counter will be just £15 - a saving of £3 on the standard price.
October 31st falls on a Monday this year, but we don't open Mondays! Instead, we'll present you with a whole host of spooky treats on the counter all day Friday 28th and Saturday 29th of Hallowe'en weekend. Pop by on the day to choose your goodies or call ahead to reserve a box to beat the queues on the day.Skeleton Gingerbread biscuits available Friday and Saturday for £1 each.
And one more thing! Bonfire night falls the following Saturday - November 5th. To mark the occasion, we'll be offering a special Friday Flavour to fit the theme.

SMURF cupcake!
Theres a craze on the Smurf at the moment - and we were asked to do an individual cupcake for a little girls birthday, which we packaged in a clear box! What a cute little present!

BAE at Wartons "British Bake Off"
I was asked to help judge the "Bake off " competition at BAE Warton which took place on Thursday 22nd September. The competition was open to all the staff at the Warton site - to submit a cupcake design and flavour! So myself (Katie Rawcliffe), Matthew Johnson (Head chef at The Villa, Wrea Green), Julie Oddie (Slattery's Manchester, Chocolate and baking tutor) and
Major Marc Steventon, representative of ABF The Soldiers' Charity and Major at Fulwood Barracks - all had the fantastic job of taste testing the cupcake entries!
All money raised by the sale of the cupcakes at lunch time went to the ABF The Soldiers Charity - raising over £300 on the day!
The competition was high and we had to choose our 4 winners (above) -
with "The Little House of Cupcakes" awarding the Best Decorated cupcake!
Major Marc Steventon, representative of ABF The Soldiers' Charity and Major at Fulwood Barracks - all had the fantastic job of taste testing the cupcake entries!

We were so pleased to be asked to do these cupcakes for a Danielle and Dave, whos wedding we did way back at the beggining! And now its time to celebrate their baby girls christening.

Tucked away in Thornton, we’re a busy little cupcake shop with a vacancy for a Saturday sales assistant.
Primary responsibilities are customer focused, with this role being front of house at all times. This will include ensuring the shop area is presentable, serving cupcakes and taking orders (both in person and by telephone). Experience in the service industry would be an advantage to help maintain our high standards of customer service.
Secondary responsibilities are crucial and involve supporting the background team in their roles. These include, but are not limited to:
Opening the shop
Maintaining a clean working area
Making decorations
Decorating cakes
No baking is required of this role.
And finally, we run children’s decorating parties throughout the week and would like this role to include the preparation and hosting of these parties. These parties are aimed at 6-11 year olds and are held at the parent’s house or a public venue. Please see the website for full information about the parties.
To apply, simply put together a letter telling us why you are suited to the position and a little about yourself, previous work, general background, etc. Drop your application in at the shop or email katie@thelittlehouseofcupcakes.co.uk.
